One again, Facebook has announced a rather serious data breach. The social media giant said that after April of 2018, when it implemented new privacy measures in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, about 100 developers retained improper access to the data of users that were part of certain Facebook groups. The company found evidence that at least 11 of those developers “accessed group members’ information in the last 60 days.”
Facebook did not mention how many groups were impacted by the breach, nor the number of users whose data was improperly accessed. The firm stated that the developers have been requested to delete any information they accessed due to the privacy oversight, and promised to conduct “audits” to make sure the developers comply with the request.
