A recent study by Check Point predicts some of the major cybersecurity trends that will shape 2020. In terms of threats, the firm projects that 5G will play a major role in increasing the attack surface because it is bound to lead to a surge in Internet-of-things devices as well as increasing data volumes. Other growing threats are increasingly targeted ransomware attacks and spear phishing campaigns. Mobile malware is expected to surged as well.
In order to defend against these threats, companies are expected to purchase more cyber insurance and to adopt more security solutions incorporating artificial intelligence (AI). Of course attackers will be increasingly levering AI in their attack campaigns as well.
