Internet of Things (IoT) devices are know for their poor security, including the presence of default login credentials that make many of these devices laughably easy to hack. While weak default passwords like “admin” and “123456” are notoriously common, a new study by Avira shows that the most common weak password, is no password at all.
The report, which is based on data from 14,125 attacks on IoT honeypots, found that 25.6% of all attacks involved blank login credentials. Other popular weak username / password combinations were admin / admin, support / support, and root / root.
