A new report by the Ponemon Institute and Devo Security shows that security operations centers (SOCs) are struggling to keep up with mounting cyber threats, leading to crippling workloads and long resolution times for security incidents.
The majority of respondents indicated that the effectiveness of their SOC is low, while close to half (49%) cited a lack of alignment with business needs. Only 22% of SOCs can usually resolve issues within hours or days, while the mean time to resolution (MTTR) for 78% of SOCs is weeks to months, or even years. Almost two in three (65%) respondents have considered quitting their job or the industry altogether due to the high workload and lack of effectiveness.
