A new report by LastLine shows that cyber risk may be highest during the summer months, with 30.5% of respondents indicating they see more cyber threats during the summer compared to the rest of the year. However, 47.1% said they did not notice seasonal attack trends.
As to the specific attacks that increase in the summer, phishing was the most popular answer (46.5%), followed by malware (43.5%), spear phishing (26.4%) and ransomware (24.1%). The increased cyber risk for organizations in the summer also has to do with the fact that more employees work remotely during the period, which means they are more likely to use insecure (public) Wi-Fi networks.
