Earlier this week, Hong Kong police arrested 8 people that are suspected of doxxing officers, i.e. stealing personal data and publishing the information online. These actions allegedly “affected a large number of officers, resulting not only in nuisance but threats.”
The arrests were carried out days after protesters raided Hong Kong’s legislature. Since last month, hundreds of thousands of Hong Kong citizens have been participating in mass anti-government protests over a controversial new plan, supported by the Chinese regime, that would make extraditions between Hong Kong and mainland China possible.
