A new Palo Alto Networks survey among respondents from Europe, the Middle East and Africa shows that one in four people (25%) believe that law enforcement agencies should be responsible for cybersecurity, while 28% point to the government.
In addition, 26% of respondents said the would rather have artificial intelligence (AI) handle cybersecurity than a human. When it comes to the Internet of things (IoT), respondents where divided about the security of these solutions, with 43% stating that IoT devices are not secure and 38% indicating that they are.
According to Dr Jessica Barker of Cygenta, who helped to conduct the study, “it is interesting to note that IoT is considered insecure by the majority of participants, whereas most people feel that technology, in general, is helping them to be more secure online. This suggests that the technology industry needs to address security and privacy concerns surrounding IoT in a meaningful and transparent manner.”
