A new Watchguard report shows that malware detections rose by 62% between Q4 of 2018 and Q1 of this year. The study also found that macOS malware is a growing threat, with two strains making the top 10 of most common malware in Q1 2019.
Attacks on web applications are also increasing as threat actors continue to rely on well-known attack types such as cross-site scripting (XSS) and SQL injection (SQLi). Another major threat comes from fileless malware, which shows up in the Watchguard top 10 lists for malware and for network attacks.
