Earlier this month, a threat actor breached SocialEngineered.net, an online community for discussing social engineering. The hackers exploited a vulnerability in the MyBB software the forum was running in order to obtain data from tens of thousands of forum members. All the compromised data was leaked on the day of the breach.
The leaked database contains usernames, encrypted passwords, email addresses, IP addresses and messages of 55,121 users. For many users multiple email addresses were compromised, since total number of unique email addresses in the dump (89,000) exceeds the number of users. The attacker claimed on an underground forum that they also obtained website source code, data, and activity.
