A new McAfee report shows that moving to the cloud often has security benefits for organizations, but there are some major drawbacks as well. According to the survey, 87% of organizations “experience business acceleration” due to their adoption of cloud services and a majority (52%) also saw their security improve after moving to the cloud.
However, cloud services provide most companies with insufficient control over their data. A mere 36% of companies is capable of enforcing data loss prevention (DLP) solutions in the cloud; only one in three can customize data sharing options; and as little as one in four (26%) firms can audit configuration settings. This lack of insight and control undermines the security of data in the cloud and can result in data leaks.
