Of all the Internet-connected devices that make up the Internet of things (IoT), security cameras are most frequently targeted by hackers, a new report by SAM Seamless Network shows. Security cameras account for almost half (47%) of devices on home networks that are vulnerable to cyberattacks.
In the US, the average household network contains 17 IoT devices, which is slightly higher than in Europe (14 devices). Cyberattacks targeting security cameras are very common because many people rely on cheap models with poor built-in security. After cameras, the most targeted IoT devices are smart hubs (15%) and network-attached storage devices (12%). Other common targets are printers, smart TVs and IP Phones.
