Researchers with vpnMentor recently discovered that Fortune 500 firm Tech Data leaked 264GB worth of customer and business data via an unsecured server. The server exposed personal data of employees at client firms, including full names, email addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers and fax numbers. Other leaked data included payment information and company details for users and managed service providers (MSPs).
Tech Data stated that it fixed the issue “within hours” of being notified by the researchers. The company is investigating the incident and says that “based on what we know at this time, there is no evidence that the data stored on the affected server was misused for any unauthorized transactions or other fraud.”
