At the recent Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, the company announced a new feature called “Sign in with Apple,” which is supposed to provide Apple users with a privacy-friendly alternative to the popular Login with Facebook and Sign in with Google options that many websites offer.
While the Facebook and Google login features make it easier for users to sign up to their services, they are also used by companies to track users online. Apple claims that their own sign in solution will instead respect the privacy of users. Most cybersecurity experts consider the feature to be a step in the right direction, but some point out that websites still use plenty of other means to track users, which means that the benefits of using Sign in with Apple will be limited.
