The personal data of close to 12 million clients of diagnostic services giant Quest Diagnostics Incorporated has been exposed in a data breach at American Medical Collection Agency (AMCA), a third-party billing collection provider.
According to an official statement by Quest, “AMCA believes this information includes personal information, including certain financial data, Social Security numbers, and medical information, but not laboratory test results.” Quest has suspended its businesses with AMCA for the time being, while AMCA has launched an investigation into the incident.
