Global information services firm Wolters Kluwer has suffered a malware attack, prompting it to temporarily shut down a great number of its online services including CCH, which comprises software tools and services for tax, accounting and audit workers.
After discovering “technical anomalies” on May 6, the company shut down most of its services out of precaution and launched an investigation. It claims that is has not found any evidence that attackers were able to access customer data, or target customers with malware. While it is not yet clear what type of malware was used in the attack, some experts are pointing to a new type of ransomware called MegaCortex.
