A new report[pdf] by Accenture shows that only 29% of companies worldwide are sufficiently informed about the cybersecurity strategy of their third-party providers, while a majority of firms (56%) blindly trust their suppliers to keep them safe. This puts most organizations at risk of supply-chain attacks that target companies through vendors and other third-parties.
Supply-chain attacks are on the rise, and Accenture warns that in the new five years, risks related to this type of attack will make up around one-fourth of the total value at risk from cybercrime.
