Insider attacks are on the rise according to almost 3 in 4 (73%) IT pros that participated in a new Bitglass survey. In last year’s survey, only a small majority (56%) of respondents said the same. Almost 60% of companies actually suffered a security incident caused by an insider in 2018, while this was true for only one-third of firms the year before.
A majority of respondents (54%) indicated that detecting insider threats is more difficult than detecting external incidents. According to the report, this has to with various factors such as “insufficient authentication, inadequate user behavior monitoring in the cloud, and a failure to properly secure personal devices.”
