New research by nCipher Security shows that Americans are frustrated with the current state of data security. One in five people (20%) suffer from security fatigue and no longer trust any entity to safeguard their personal information.
People are most concerned about falling victim to identity theft (68%), with 18% of people having already experienced this. As a result of their concerns, about one-third of survey respondents want to be in control of their own data. One in three respondents also want tougher penalties for cybercriminals and for executives who fail to properly protect user data.
