Hundreds of ISIS fighters surrender in Syria’s Baghouz: SDF
On Wednesday, 400 Islamic State fighters were captured by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northeastern Syria as they tried to escape Baghouz, the group’s last bastion in the area. The SDF aims to overtake the enclave, but has halted its assault to allow for evacuation efforts. Over 2,000 people left Baghouz on Wednesday.
According the an (SDF) commander, hundreds of ISIS fighters surrendered to the SDF, in addition to those that were captured, but the officer added that “[t]here are a large number of fighters who are inside and do not want to surrender.”
