F-Secure observed a 32% increase in attack traffic last year compared to 2017, and the second half of 2018 saw four times more attack traffic than the first half. Moreover, the security company found that 22% of its client organizations completely failed to detect attacks against their networks and many companies detected only some attacks.
The fact that so many organizations are struggling to detect threats is not surprising if you take into account that only one in three organizations have implemented a detection and response solution capable of identifying advanced threats. Leszek Tasiemski of F-Secure explained that “[t]oday’s threats are completely different from 10 or even 5 years ago. Preventative measures and strategies won’t stop everything anymore, so I’ve no doubt that many of the companies surveyed don’t have a full picture of what’s going on with their security.”
