Australian political parties hit by ‘state actor’ hack, PM says
The recent cyber attack targeting Australian politicians did not just hit the communications network of the country’s parliament as was initially thought, but also affected the networks of several political parties. This is one of the conclusions of a recent investigation into the attack.
Based on the findings of the investigation, Scott Morrison, the prime minister of Australia, confirmed suspicions that the attack was the responsibility of a “sophisticated state actor”. However, according to Morrison the investigation found “no evidence of any electoral interference.” Australia has suffered several cyber attacks in the past. Local media have often blamed the attacks on China and other states.
