A new report by Kaspersky Lab indicates that distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks declined 13% between the last quarters of 2017 and 2018. However, the duration of attacks more than doubled last year, from an average length of 95 minutes per attack in the first quarter of 2018, to 218 minutes in the last quarter.
Q4 of 2018 also saw the longest DDoS attack since late 2015, a barrage lasting 329 hours (almost 14 days). Moreover, researchers with Kaspersky Lab are warning that DDoS attacks are likely to become increasingly sophisticated over the course of this year.
