Add cybersecurity to Doomsday Clock concerns, says Bulletin of Atomic Scientists

According to the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, cybersecurity issues are part of the reason why the Doomsday Clock currently stands at two minutes to midnight, which is the same critical position as during the height of the Cold War in 1953.

The cyber aspect of the massive threat the human race poses to itself, is related to information warfare and the security issues affecting the rapidly growing global web of Internet-connected devices known as the Internet of Things (IoT). According to the bulletin, “[t]he increased use of information warfare to undermine democracy around the world … [puts] the future of civilization in extraordinary danger”
