Consulting company Booz Allen has released a new report outlining eight crucial cyber threats for this year, based on insights from the firm’s top analysts. The research outlines the following threats, while also discussing what companies can do to protect themselves:
- Information warfare will increasingly target organizations
- Internet of Things (IoT) devices will be used more and more in cyber espionage operations by nation-state actors
- The shortcomings of Chip and PIN may become apparent
- Adware networks will increasingly be weaponized
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play an increasingly important role in information warfare, contributing to the proliferation of deepfakes (incredibly convincing manipulated video footage)
- The wireless attack surface will keep on expanding
- State-sponsored threat actors will continue to focus on deceptive techniques
- Disruptive cyberattacks on water utilities may occur around the globe
