The National Republican Congressional Committee has announced a “cyber intrusion” during the 2018 midterm campaigns and the breach has been official reported to the FBI. Few details were included with the announcement, but no attribution was announced. “The cybersecurity of the committee’s data is paramount, and upon learning of the intrusion, the NRCC immediately launched an internal investigation and notified the FBI, which is now investigating the matter…to protect the integrity of that investigation, the NRCC will offer no further comment on the incident,” announced a spokesman. The FBI has not provided additional comments. Campaigns have started to hire cybersecurity advisors, but their integration thus far has been limited.
