Brazil’s right wing president-elect Jair Bolsonaro has completed a regional movement towards a more pro-American stance and has already suggested a tone for his presidency. He has feuded with Cuba, threatened trade limitations with China, and even incensed Muslim countries around the world for promising to move Brazil’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. Such moves may prove popular across his electoral base if the country is able to sustain its economic growth, expansion of services, and position within BRICS emerging countries.
