Taliban Fighters Massacre Scores Of Afghanistan Security Forces — Again

A leading U.S. struggle in Afghanistan is increasingly demoralized Afghan military personnel. Driven by continued attacks, contests, and losses, recent attacks have been characterized by reports of fleeing security forces during Taliban attacks and offensives. Furthermore, a disparity between official U.S. government statistics and those from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction further underscore the gains the Taliban’s success around the country, with the latter’s estimates placing Taliban contesting or controlling 61% of Afghanistan’s districts versus the U.S. government’s estimate of 44%.
