Pakistan’s influential military allegedly used its influence and power to restrict the operations of leading journalists and media outlets in the country. Media reports indicate that the army coerced the largest media outlets into removing columns and purging stories, reports that are corroborated by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. While the formal power of the military in Pakistan has been severely curbed in recent times, this continuing power helped them ensure Imran Khan’s recent victory.
